Cryotherapy

Picture1

Cryotherapy involves removal of superficial skin growths by freezing with liquid nitrogen. Liquid nitrogen is applied directly to the skin lesion for a few seconds, causing destruction of the abnormal skin cells, while preserving the surrounding skin. It is a relatively inexpensive, safe, and reliable procedure. Cryotherapy may be used for common skin growths such as viral warts and seborrhoeic keratosis. However, it is important that the skin lesion has been properly diagnosed and assessed by our consultant dermatologist before proceeding with cryotherapy.
