Electrosurgery

Electrosurgery is a dermatological procedure that uses electric current to destroy abnormal skin growths. It is highly effective for destroying superficial or protruding skin lesions. The precise application of the electrode ensures that there is minimal damage to surrounding skin, as well as no blood loss. Treated areas usually heal rapidly with minimal scarring. Some of the common skin growths that may be removed by electrosurgery include viral warts, skin tags and seborrhoiec keratosis. Prior to the electrosurgery procedure, our consultant dermatologist will apply a numbing cream or inject a local anaesthetic to the area involved. In general, electrosurgery is relatively quick and painless.
